NEW MEXICO DINING

Classmates and other friends who live in Albuquerque and other parts of New Mexico, and those who have spent time there tend to agree that New Mexico Mexican food has a taste all its own.  Green chilis (not real hot) are very popular there as are the red chilis.  

You may wish to consider buying a "ristra," a string of red chilis -- sold all over the Southwest -- and shipping them back home while you are at the reunion.

Jan H-R sent the below article that appeared in "The Albuquerque Journal" on a local favorite restaurant that was just selected by the James Beard Foundation "...a group of fancy food muckety-mucks in New York City -- just announced it has chosen Mary and Tito's for an award of excellence, one of five 'American Classic' prizes given annually to restaurants that capture authentic regional flavor."
